Rice

Rice

We use two kinds of rice, one for pilav, and the other for sübye (rice milk). They are both locally grown.

Next to maize and wheat, rice is the third most widely culivated crop in the world and thus takes a great part in sustaining more than half of the world's human population. Rice cultivation began in around 3000 BC in southeast Asia and spread in time to other parts of the world, but it is mainly produced and consumed in south and east Asian countries China, India, and Indonesia.

Since 2000, rice production in Turkey has increased up to three times, with a higher than average global fertility rate and is close to provide for the national demand. The seeds used in local cultivation are developped in the Agricultural Research Instıtute in Thrace. Recently Turkey has even began exporting rice.

The rice for the delicious pilav you eat in our restaurants comes from local produce, from locally grown seeds. It is offered for your taste anytime of the day, cooked several times afresh.
